Brad and Axel were never intended to be major characters, but I kept bringing them back. Their fashion style was borrowed from the metalhead kids I knew growing up. They were just good, silly fun to write. They had their own small story arc a little while later in the comic, but I always thought it would be fun to create an entire standalone story about them.

In the last panel, what Axel really meant to say was, “It’s all semantics”. You know, I don’t think I ever specified where Axel was from, but I always imagined his dialogue being spoken in the voice of my old neighbour, who was from Eastern Europe. I loved his accent. He had the coolest, laid back cadence to his voice.
