When Brian first appeared in the comic I hadn’t really given much thought to his name, because I didn’t think he’d stay in the comic for long. Even in my Flash library, all of Brian’s body elements were just named “Mr. Flower”, after what Dirtygirl called him in the first strip he appeared in. But after a while it seemed natural that Dirtygirl would adopt him, so he needed a REAL name. And Brian seemed like a funny play on the word “brain”, so I just went with that.
